Elegant Events is Party Planning, More

Saratoga Sun ~ July 12, 2000, Page 3

Elegant Events, formerly Creative Cakes, is now bringing a variety of party planning services to Saratoga.  The business, owned by Saratoga resident Libbi [Alcorn], specializes in weddings and wedding receptions, birthday celebrations, graduation parties, baby showers, holiday and office parties, and “everything in between,” Libbi said.

Libbi still makes the custom wedding cakes and all occasion cakes for which Creative Cakes became known, and said she decided to expand the business on the advice of family and friends.

“Everyone loves a party, especially me,” she said.  “I have coordinated quite a few events and helped here and there on just as many others.  I have always loved the festive atmosphere of parties, and I have kept little mementos and taken notes from various events since I was a little girl.”

Now in addition to cakes she not only consults on events but also coordinates vendor services such as flowers, music photography and catering, Elegant Events also offers custom wedding accessories, custom-made bridal veils and head pieces, custom silk flower arrangements, invitation assembly and addressing services, and more.

Libbi also does tablescapes, which can be a theme oriented place setting or just a formal black or white table setting, and she can do anything from an elegant [table for two] to elaborate tables for 200 or more.

“We are already planning more additions to our services in the very near future, Libbi said.

Libbi said she has helped with weddings in some very unusual ways.

“We were once involved in a wedding by proxy where [her ex-husband] stood in for the groom who was an armed forces officer stationed in Germany at the time.  That was probably the most interesting of our experiences,” she laughed.

“We live in a very remote area, and just to look for a particular item can be very frustrating when you have to drive to several different towns.  Our idea is to eliminate the hassle of planning these events for people who already have enough to do with work and their busy lives.”

“We tailor our services to the needs of each particular client.  The thing we don’t want to do is run the show if you don’t want us to.  We can do as little or as much as our client would like.”
